Whenever one of us leaves the house with The Kid, the EpiPens and Benadryl go with us. Our plastic bag method of carrying them isn't just ugly, it has the disadvantage of not having a permanent home when at home. On more than one occasion, I have frantically called my husband from work because I had just discovered that the bag was still in my purse. I decided that we needed a new container for The Kid's meds that could be hung up next to the door.

Then I went to Walmart with The Kid this week and found myself in the middle of a back to school sale. There were several large displays of pencil cases and the light bulb finally went off over my head. Since I had the EpiPens with me, I was able to check that the cases were the right size. I found ones with webbing that looked like they could have a belt run through them for my husband's sake. They cost $1.68. I bought two of them. If you need a new home for your Epipens, the school supplies at stores in your area are worth checking out, especially if you have an allergic girl who likes multi-colored butterflies, hearts, or polka dots.
I left the little plastic loop on the bag, so I could hang it from our key rack. My mom is a serious quilter who has a sewing machine that sings, tap dances, and does embroidery, so she has agreed to make red tags with The Kid's allergy information on them to stitch onto the plain side of the bags. I haven't decided exactly how the tags will read, but will probably make them similar to his medic alert bracelet. I think I'll also ask her to attach a loop or key ring to the bags for hanging them up. (Thanks, Mom!)
