is there such a think as being a "non-metabolizer" re: demoral?

When taking demoral or other anesthesia type drugs I later vomit, and am "out of it" for longer than I should be...like 2 days or so. I was once told I am a "non-metabolizer"...if that is the case what can I take to not have these reactions?
