metallic taste when blowing nose

Recently my allergies have been cause me some grief. constantly being stuffed up and sluggish throughout the day, now when i go and blow my nose to relive some of the pressure in the back of my mouth i can taste a presence of a metallic substance now ive read that blood sometimes has this taste to it.  just wondering if people have had this before and know what to do or if its any cause for alarm
