****warning****venting ahead:
I've hated Alzheimer's since my Great Grandma suffered through it. She passed away about 6 years ago. Now her son, my grandpa, is in the final stages. It's awful. He was a brilliant, talented, loving person. We celebrated his birthday with him at the end of September. He was still able to smile and laugh. He didn't make much sense when he talked, but at least he still smiled and laughed. The greatest moment of that day was when I was shooting some free-throws in the backyard, missed a couple, and he told me what to do to fix my shot. Being the basketball genius he was, his advice worked. Not even two months later, he doesn't even know who I am. This disease is so heartbreaking.
