Recovery from less invasive single TKA

I was told by MD that I should replace one knee. However, I am interviewing for executive jobs, having been laid off due to the economic crisis. If I have the surgery, how long before I can walk unassisted? I can't be using a cane in interviews. Age is a liability in seeking executive jobs.
