Low back pain? Probably tight hamstrings.

When I was working in physical therapy, the number one issue that patients came in with was low back pain. With the amount of sitting we do as a society, our hamstrings are in a constant state of shortening. As a result, they tighten up and therefore pull our pelvis out of alignment. Most of our patient's back pain would alleviate in only a week when they did a regular hamstring flexibility routine. If you are suffering from back pain (that isn't a result of a specific injury), try stretching your hamstrings before heading off to the doctor. Sit on the floor with outstretched legs. KEEP YOUR BACK STRAIGHT and reach for the toes. Most don't do this correctly because they'll allow their back to hunch over to reach further. If you keep your back straight, you're going to isolate the stretch in the hamstrings more. Good luck!
