One of the most common causes of chronic back and neck pain are cervical and lumbar disc herniations. And we treat our share of them at Executive Express Chiropractic.
But here's the deal...there are more people walking around with disc herniations that DON"T know they have them than there are people that do.
In fact...if we were to pull 10 people at random...right off the street and do MRI studies (the gold standard for diagnosing disc herniations)...we might find that 6 of them have a herniated disc.
However...maybe only 3 of the six have any symptoms at all. And maybe only one of the three has serious herniated disc symptoms.
It's confusing...and it's part of the reason back pain is so hard to treat...that is of course unless you are a chiropractor. You see most of the time....chiropractic adjustments will help chronic back pain...or chronic neck pain...even if there are herniated discs.
But...there is a small percentage of chronic disc pain patients (I estimate around 15%) that do not seem to respond to chiropractic...or anything else for that matter...and these are the patients we consider for non-surgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 Lumbar decompression system or DRX9000c Cervical system.
So sure...chiropractic can help with disc herniations...most of the patients we treat probably have them...we would only know with an MRI...which most of the time we don't need because the patients get better.
How do we know which patients will respond to chiropractic and which wont?...we don't...and neither does anyone else...same with spinal decompression. What we do know is this...it's safe and it's gentle and so is decompression. So that's the one-two punch we use at Executive Express.
If we do not achieve a favorable outcome our patient is still whole and can consider other options...although most have already tried just about everything. But success rates are high...and favorable outcomes are an everyday thing.
Sure, it's a bummer when it doesn't work out...I'm just glad it's the exception...and not the rule.
