Left Upper Back Pain difficulty breathing

Pain seems to be under neath my left shoulder blade, making it difficulty breathing because of the shooting pain.
could it be muscle spasms, it just seems as if a rib is piercing through my lunch, making it hard to breath. Went the 1st time fo er they gave me an injection into my iv for the pain. I was given hydrocodone for pain.
