Sciatica, kidney problem or none of the above?

Posted by inParadise

I am a woman in my mid twenties. I have pain in the sides of my lower back that feels a bit like menstrual cramps and the pain radiates down my thighs. It feels better when I bend and stay still and it hurts so much when I walk that I have to limp. This is recurring pain, I've had it for years and it comes for a week at most and then disappears again. Lately it's become painful enough to take painkillers when it comes back. My partner massaged my back and told me the sides of my back right behind my hips were swollen. I am otherwise healthy except for painful menstruation and migraine headaches. I have suffered no injuries; I don't do extreme exercise.
