The Right Kind of Stress is Good

1096042[1] Not all stress is bad..after-all it's how we grow and become stronger. Muscles, minds, bones, and hearts...all grow stronger from stress.

Too much stress can be bad...especially mental stress such as worry and anxiety. And, different stresses tend to balance each other out...or not.

For example...exercise (physical stress) tends to make the the body stronger and help reduce mental (and physical) tension that builds up day to day (silently).  Exercise can also help the body metabolize chemical stresses (so does eating right) that build-up in the body.

Taking on new and more difficult challenges at work (which can be stressful) or play tends to force our minds and bodies to grow which expands our physical and mental capabilities. In fact..some people thrive in an environment where they are forced to grow...others don't...we are all different.

Personally...I like organized chaos. I like to plan things out and then execute them vs. just reacting to whatever comes along. I feel that by planning I am able to better deal with what I already know is going to happen...which opens up my mental and physical capacity to deal with what I don't know is going to happen...when it happens. Sure, this can be a little stressful sometimes...but it works for me.

In my 20+ years  running businesses, I have learned that the employees that plan things out, take care of themselves, and embrace growth...are way more effective at getting things done than those that just show-up and react. Some of the reactors seem to always be running around like chickens with their heads cut off in a state of panic. The planners seem to always be more productive, healthier, miss less work, and just seem happier and more in control. They are better able to navigate the rough seas. Hey...anyone can handle it when it's easy.

I will take 3 planners over 6 reactors for the the same price any day. The planners get the job done...the reactors bump into each other like pin balls all day. Fortunately I am staffed with planners that value their health and well being at Executive Express Chiropractic...it makes my life a lot easier.

Bottom Line: Take care of your mind and body by eating right, getting chiropractic adjustments, exercising, sleeping good, meditating or relaxing the mind, learning and making yourself more valuable in regards to your profession...and planning things out...then bring it on...because that's how we roll.

Be The Paddle Not The Ball.
