A last minute binge, guilt lasts much longer

Posted by amydf07

If you're a binge eater, you know this feeling all too well... It's late in the day and your tired, don't feel like cooking, but very hungry... at a last minute decision you decide to just splurge and eat whatever you want. First stop, McDonalds and then after that its pretty much whatever you can get your hands on. I mean after all, what does it matter what you eat now because you've already blown your perfect diet. Next, the guilt comes in. You feel sick to your stomach for all you ate not to mention guilt alone from breaking your diet is bad enough to make you sick. You feel like failure and some of you might say "Oh well, I will start my diet again on Monday" I use to be like that. Now I catch myself doing well all day long (sometimes for weeks at a time) and then one day I mess up, usually after lunch time and then stuff my face for the rest of the day. Luckily I have learned to try to get back on schedule the following morning but I know this is totally messing up my LOSE WEIGHT plan. It's a terrible cycle that repeats itself all the time. It's draining.... I watch the Sober House on MTV or the Intervention shows and I feel the same way as those addicts addicted to drug or alcohol must feel. Most people probably don't realize that food is just as bad of an addiction as anything. I NEED FOOD REHAB.... your thoughts?

OMG...I am in the same boat let me tell you!! Except my binges usually always take place on the weekends because its supposed to be like a "cheat day" except it never only lasts for a day. And then the more I deviate from eating well, the harder it is to get back into healthy mode. I eat pretty decent during the week, but whats the point when I go and undo it on the weekends!!!.....So I feel you with the whole "food rehab" thing. Sigh....i keep thinking I will be able to follow through with a diet the right way ...some day!!! Not to mention the guilt after binging is horrible- I feel worthless!!! wishing I could undo it all. And I get all down thinking about how I just set myself back. UGH!!!
