A Little of This, a Little of That

Posted Sep 07 2008 7:59pm

Rob bought a sword.

Doc called yesterday and said the bone density test results show I have osteopenia in my back and hips (I coulda told you that). I'll need to find some good sources of calcium that I can tolerate as I have an aversion to dairy due to my lactose intolerance. Although I know I can take the little Dairy Ease pill and it will solve the problem, I can't bring myself to enjoy milk or ice cream. Doc is calling in a prescription for Boniva.

Doc also said the CAT scan showed I have a small nodule on my right adrenal gland, which means another referral - this time to an Endocrinologist. Yay. Overproduction of cortisol can cause the symptoms that I've been experiencing. Of course, my symptoms are so generalized, it could be anything at all. But reading up on Cushing's I am thinking that the hyperpigmentation in my face and neck, my 'buffalo hump' (sounds attractive, eh?), excessive sweating, muscle weakness, easy bruising and slow healing, weight gain, early menopause, and now osteopenia could be related to this little adrenal gland nodule. Time (and tests) will tell.

Other than that, life is perfect. I feel fine today.
