Working two jobs is leaving me with very little time to write. The recruiting is going gangbusters, at the end of the day I am wiped out. I am also trying to lend a little more support at the parent's forum... many struggles lately.
Woke up this morning to a lovely surprise. Rob actually completed an assignment for school that he had promised to do overnight. I believe this is a first! No kidding! We worked for about an hour and a half yesterday in Sociology, trying to get caught up. He's been terrible, as usual, about showing up for school so he is behind. After finishing Sociology, I told him he had to do Gym class. How does one do Gym class online? I'm sure he was hoping that it would be a mere matter of reporting that he did 100 jumping jacks - but he was distressed to find it meant writing a paper about himself. "What the hell? This is supposed to be Gym class, not Writing class! You know I can't do these kinds of things, Mom!" I suggested that writing about himself was probably the easiest writing assignment of all. He did it:
My name is Rob. I live with my mom and her friend and also my friend. I have a dog named Zeke and a cat named Eliot. I used to go to North High but I could never focus. That's why I came to ECOT, so I can work when I can focus. I like driving, playing video games, and playing basketball. I am pretty good at all those things, especially driving. I used to work out but lately I haven't been. I would like to start working out on a regular basis again. If any, that would be my goal. I would like to gain weight (mostly in muscle).
I was so proud of him, that I went down to his room and congratulated him immediately. "Way to be a man, Rob!" He asked if I have noticed that he is trying to be more responsible. I have noticed that, in fact. He has been doing what I ask usually the first time I ask. He has been job hunting a couple of days a week, and he has been more respectful in general.
I heard him say to PH this morning, "I don't know how I ever survived without Seroquel. I can't sleep without it." PH asked him what he used to do. "I never slept." So true.
The basement is somewhat flooded. Yuck.
