This has nothing to do with psych meds but I recently learned through the Clinical Psychology blog and Pharma Marketing blog that Pfizer supposedly spent more than $800 million on what was supposed to be their own competitor to Lipitor. The new drug, torcetrapib, needed to be halted because of safety concerns. It seems that quoted cost for the new drug is shady but it prompts the question of how much money pharmaceutical companies invest in new drugs.
