Colonics to treat swine flu

Posted May 02 2009 11:20pm

I like the Huffington Post, I find it interesting and they often have some interesting items. Unfortunately with the swine flu one of the people they posted a piece from is Kim Evans. Now I don't know Ms. Evans and for all I know she's a medical genius but her advice after the usual wash your hands and avoid crowds...wait for it..... cleansing your colon.

Of course, she's the author of a book about "cleansing" so there may be a little enlightened self interest here.

Maybe it is because I was reading about how real health workers are being furloughed in my state, or because 25 percent of North Carolina residents are now numbered among the uninsured but here's my response.

This is absurd! If you want to help yourselves and your community stop paying attention to this kind of balderdash and pay attention to things that can make an actual difference. Like what? Like ---
*** Making sure your local health department has not had to lay people off because of budget cuts
*** Contacting your republican senators and make them approve a Secretary of Health and Human Services
*** Advocate for health insurance so that when people are sick they don't wait until they're deathly ill to see a doctor
*** Making sure that medical policy decisions are made based on science and not anecdotal evidence. Oh and when I say science I mean evidence based, peer reviewed, independently sponsored research and nothing less.

So, do you think I over reacted?
