Lump under arm

Posted by pleasehelpme

Hi, about five days ago I noticed a lump under my arm. I had just shaved the night before, and it was small and painful, and I assumed it was just a cyst or ingrown hair. It remained the same color as my skin, and then a day or two later was sort of pink, a little larger, and still painful. I am prone to getting sebaceous cysts in other areas from shaving, so I waited. Now the pain has gone away and it's gotten smaller, but the lump is still there. It's about the size of a pea, is the same color as my skin, can be seen just at a glance, and doesn't hurt any longer. Is this normal for a cyst or ingrown hair, or should I be more concerned, as it's not hurting any longer? My family doesn't have a history of cancer or anything (the only person to ever get it was my grandfather, who had lung cancer after smoking for fifty years...), but it still makes me very nervous, and despite explaining to my boss what was going on, I'm not able to get time during the week off to see a doctor for at least a week and a half, so some information on whether I shoul dbe worried enough to get in trouble at work or not would be really, really appreciated...
