A Kidney Cancer Christmas Story...

Posted Aug 26 2008 11:30am
Instead of talking about me and my life this evening...I would like to talk about a story I read through my online kidney cancer support group and the internet. There is a homeless man in California, Kyle Cathey, recently diagnosed with kidney cancer, and will get his surgery in the near future. He has various medical conditions in addition to the cancer and has been living out of his car. There is a church that is helping him through their discretionary fund - but they really need more help. They are trying to raise money to get him in a stable location - he needs a certain amount of bed rest before and after the surgery. I have included the link to the story below as well as the contact information for the church that is helping him. If anyone is able to, in the spirit of Christmas and helping another Kidney Cancer Warrior, please consider sending a donation to the church for him. Of course, even a Christmas card would be great if that is all you can do. Or perhaps an email sent to the pastor - she could print it and give it to him. At any rate, he is one of us - and he needs whatever encouragement we can give him. I have included a picture of Rev. Gracen and Kyle Cathey above.

Here is the link to the church website:

You can send donations and/or Christmas cards to Mr. Cathey at the church:

Mr. Kyle Cathey

c/o Rev. Sharon Gracen

Faith Episcopal Church

27802 El Lazo

Laguna Niguel, CA 92677

When sending a donation, kindly place either 'Vicar's Discretionary Fund' or 'Kyle Cathey' in the memo section of your check. You may also write to Rev. Gracen personally at vicar@faithepiscopal.org.

Now I am off to get Kyle's Christmas card ready for the mail in the morning. Have a Great Night and please say a prayer for Kyle.
