Current Cancer Clinical Trial Study

Posted Aug 24 2008 3:50pm
Recently I received an email from Ryan Wagner of Fleishman-Hillard, on behalf of ArQule, Inc. about a current cancer clinical trial study. This warmed my heart that he would contact me - and as you will see in the letter, he came to know me through my blog. I am posting the majority of this letter for my readers - and my prayer is that this clinical trial will help you.

Hi Kristy,

My name is Ryan Wagner and I’m writing you from Fleishman-Hillard, a public relations company, on behalf of ArQule, Inc . As your blog shares information related to cancer and cancer treatments, we wanted to let you and your readers know about a clinical research study that currently is enrolling cancer patients.

ArQule is conducting a trial designed specifically for clear cell sarcoma, alveolar soft-part sarcoma, and translocation associated renal cell carcinoma .

As you may know, clear cell sarcoma, alveolar soft-part sarcoma, and translocation associated renal cell carcinoma are rare but fatal types of tumors that, once metastatic, spread rapidly in the body. These cancers typically affect adolescents and young adults.

Approximately 100–200 cases of clear cell sarcoma, 100 cases of alveolar soft part sarcoma, and 50 cases of translocation associated renal cell carcinoma are diagnosed per year in the United States. Unfortunately, these tumor types do not respond to any known therapy for extended periods of time.

ArQule has contracted with Fleishman-Hillard to help reach out to patients with these disease types and to raise awareness that this trial is ongoing and recruiting.

ArQule ’s clinical research study is being conducted to determine the effectiveness of an investigational compound, ARQ 197. ARQ 197 is taken by mouth and appears to be extremely well-tolerated with minimal side effects. This study, which is open to individuals aged 13 years and older who meet eligibility requirements, will run in 28-day cycles. Participants will take ARQ 197 capsules twice daily. During the first cycle, participants will make approximately five to six visits to see the physician. Over the course of these visits, participants will undergo three PET scans, one CT scan, an electrocardiogram (ECG), physical examinations, and laboratory tests to determine how the drug affects his or her disease and the extent of any side effects.

This clinical trial is being offered at multiple cancer centers across the country, including sites in California , Texas , Ohio , and Massachusetts . Also, please know, programs exist to help coordinate travel to and lodging at these sites.

T hanks for your time and consideration. I hope the announcement of this study will be of interest to you and your community of readers.

For more information about the study, please visit www.arqulestudies.com . There, you can find detailed information about the study including eligibility requirements, research locations, and other relevant contact information.

Please feel free to contact me at ryan.wagner@fleishman.com if you have any questions or would like to discuss the study.

Best regards,

Ryan Wagner
