It's been a traumatic week with the shootings in Texas and Florida. Makes one wonder what will have to happen before the government implements tighter gun control. Sad to lose so many innocent lives because a couple of guys have trouble coping with life's challenges.

On that note, we found out today that Dad has a cancerous spot on his forehead. The spot has been there many years and was once a mole. It dried up and Dad covered it with a cap. He said it never hurt so he didn't go to a doctor. We talked before he got it looked at and he repeatedly told me he didn't see why he had to have it checked because it did not hurt.

I told him I wasn't in pain when they told me I had kidney cancer. Mom has been going through her own challenges and Dad has worried about her condition. I explained to him that it is our job to worry about him and Mom and he was being selfish to deny us the right to care for him. Told Mom the same thing yesterday.

He's got issues with the cirulation in his legs. The forehead was an incidental finding.

He claims he isn't worried but my sister tells me he is pensive and quieter than usual. Some members of the family are lamenting his "condition" and are scared to death. I say we don't have anything to worry about just yet. Right now all we know is that the spot is cancerous.

The time to worry may come later. Hopefully, it will be a time of relief.

Went to the ENT specialist Friday morning for the biopsy of the lump on my lower jaw. The doctor gave me some cream to apply to numb the area. When I got there, I got a couple more injections to numb it. Stinking needles hurt.

Once the good doctor began the biopsy, I felt the needle go in and he pumped it in and out a little to get fluid. The syringe was filled with a bloody fluid he smeared on a slide.

"Is it supposed to be bloody like that?" I asked.

"There are blood vessels so some blood is normal," he answered. "This is more than there should be but not enough to worry about." Must be great not having to worry.

I recalled they said it was infected so I asked if there was any puss. "No puss," said the doctor. That is good and bad.

No puss means no infection. Good. Could also mean it is something other than an infection. Bad.

The needles hurt like hell even with the numbing.

"You said it wouldn't hurt," I told the doctor. "I never said that," he replied. He looked at the assistant. "Did I?" he asked.

She didn't say anything so I supposed she shook her head. "Are we almost done?" I asked.

"Almost. A couple more times," said he.

He left me with just a few needle holes and only took a bandaid to cover but the pain lingered a few hours. My jaw bone was sore and the lower neck muscles hurt. But, it was all better by dinner.

Now we have to wait for the results. Scans, labs and doctor visit in December. We will get the biopsy results before then. No need to hang in suspense until the follow up visit on the 6th.
