Quick Update

Posted Nov 21 2008 2:58pm
It has been an exhausting several days.

Since being admitted last Thursday, Vivi has been receiving antibiotics consistently for "febrile neutropenia". When the kids' counts are low (and Vivi's remain zero, unfortunately, despite receiving her G-CSF daily), a fever can be very dangerous. Luckily, it seems we have avoided the dangerously high fevers that have made Vivi feel so sick in two prior months. That is an incredible relief.

Another piece of good news is that we are FINALLY RELEASED FROM ISOLATION! Vivi's C. Diff. cultures have finally come back negative, which is incredible news because when we finally get the counts up and can go home, we will go back to Target House! It is incredible to think that we have not all been at Target House together since before Halloween.

It's miserable being ripped away from home, homesick, missing our friends and family, and our great and terrible Queenpup, but we have some sense of home and normalcy at Target House. Not having that the past three weeks has just been incredibly hard. Knowing that we will see family at Thanksgiving helps a lot.

More updates to come, Miss Vivi has learned and enjoyed many new things and done lots of smiling.
