Picture: X ray of a plasmacytoma in the tibia (lower leg) bone replaced by tumor Tuesday was a very long day. Richard was to have the
image guided biopsy at 9:00 AM, but his
INR was still 1.6 even after no
Coumadin for a week. Then he had to have a chest x ray because he had a cough. That was fine; no pneumonia, although I don't know what difference that made since he was only going to have local anesthesia.
The deed was finally accomplished by 2:00PM. Then to see Dr. Lacy at 4:00 (more like 5:15 PM).
The consensus was that it is a
plasmacytoma and could be treated with radiation. Most likely Revlimid is no longer working so will discuss possibilities for treatment after the radiation is done. Treatments mentioned were Velcade, melphalan, thalidomide in various combinations with and without dex and others.
Can't wait for dex!
So now he's waiting for the radiation to be arranged. At least it will be here at home and not at Mayo.
