Why Stop At 2?

Posted Nov 04 2009 10:08pm

We attended the “Laugh Your Way To A Better Marriage” seminar this past weekend. It was a great experience, although Brian & I are sure that we just don’t fit into the typical “male/female” roles of marriage. Maybe why we get along so well. haha. None the less, Mark Gungor was super funny & quite intuitive to what it takes to have a successful marriage.

During one of his serious discussions (weren’t very many of those, huh? haha)… he talked about children & the state of procreation among Christians. We seem to be a dying breed… not because of lack of believers, but because of lack of procreating among Believers. He made some of the most valid points….

“We are the richest nation in the world, yet we claim that we can’t afford to have more than the typical 2 children. In Europe, as we speak, churches are being torn down & Mosque are being built. Why? because Muslims are over populating in order to fulfill this exact purpose. Of all people , it should be the Christian families that are having larger families. We should be over populating. We should be the ones raising the next generation!”

Isn’t that so true? Our culture seems to be selfish. We are consumed with having enough money, driving certain vehicles, & feeding our own “personal agendas”, rather than loving the Lord & raising children that possess that same love. Seems like we are quick to attack people for “not having enough money to have anymore children”. Is that where our hearts are at? How about recognizing that the families that should be having children has nothing to do with their financial status… what about their status with the Lord & with each other as husband & wife?… shouldn’t that be the most important determinant? Is it better for “rich” people to have large families simply because they have money? Having money doesn’t produce children that become healthy adults! We have become so tainted by the world’s ideas. It’s sad. Encourage your Christian brothers & sisters to receive God’s blessings of children. There can’t ever be enough children being brought into good Christian homes! & as for the financial aspect… those who hold strong in faith have NO DOUBT that God WILL provide a way!
