Prednisone is a steriod Michelle. It is not meant for long-term use. Have you considered acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy and/or other natural healing modalities to help your dog? You would need to find a good, qualified practitioner to help you with these, especially if you are not trained or versed in these modalities.
And if he can't relieve himself that is also a serious issue, especially with him being on prednisone as that will increase the need for water and increase the need for urination.
What kind of dog is he?

It happen yesterday out of the blue his hine quarters were like they were dead I took him in to the vet and the 1st. step is predisone for 10 days twice a day and tapering down from there he is so young what else can I do at home to help him...... he is eating and drinking water but has yet to go to the bathroom.. please help
