if the stent from the kidney to the bladder doesn't work will they take out the kidney?

my son has a blockage in his urethra. they have put a stent in 2 times and everytime it doesnt work and the tube closes up again. he is supposed to go in for another operation for a stent replacement on november 10,2009 but he is having problems now. if the stents continue to not work will they have to take out the kidney?
