So, given that Stella met the end goal (at least gross motor wise) of her current IFSP, we're considering requesting an earlier review. Our review isn't scheduled until May (our intake into the system was in May of 2008, and the reviews are every 6 mos). I just don't want to be all willy nilly and goal-less for two whole months. Would you set new goals now, or wait until May? And, would you request PT, OT and ST consult at the meeting? We don't have any of those specialist on our "team", and while I love our teacher, I do think that there's something to be said for each specialist knowing their own field and being able to evaluate Stella based upon their specific knowledge and experience. While we may not be able to get all the specialists we want on our team, we should at least be able to pick their brains on goal setting.
The ideal situation, for me, would be to add a county ST. We're really happy with our private PT and OT. If we were to get those services thru the county, we'd likely have to decrease the times we do private or, maybe, drop private totally. However, we don't, currently, have a ST and I think we need one. So, adding that thru the county just seems to be the right route to go. Especially if you add in the issue of private STs not taking insurance. It can be covered by insurance, but you've got to pay, then submit for reimbursement. That's just annoying. We'll do it if we have to, but it's annoying!
