Any advice on L5-L4 fusion??

I'm 20 years old and have been advised by my doctor to get a fusion to relieve my pain. My L5 has spondylolysis and fusion or waiting until my pain is unbearable are my only options. My doctor said I would be in the hospital for maybe 2 or 3 days and would be out of work for 4 weeks. This I find very hard to believe but since I'm young my recovery time should be relatively fast. As I research more and more, I'm finding both positive and negative things about this surgery and its recovery time. I would love any advice anyone can give me before I make this important decision.
