Perfect timing...I just came across this and it relates to my previous post on obesity and pregnancy.
Research done at the University of Western Australia has shown that people who diet have an all-or-nothing mentality. Either they lose weight and get skinny/buff or they eat whatever they want/go back to old habits and stay overweight/flabby. They see failure or success; black or white.
The recent Jenny Craig commercials that talk about "A size energetic" and a "Size healthy" is one of the best mass media attitudes towards weight loss and health that I think I've ever seen. Thinklong-termand thinklifestyle.
Treats are fine, but treats are "sometimes foods". Not everyday, not every time you get irritated/sad/lonely and not every time you eat something else that is healthy.
You might like fat, grease, sugar and tons of carbs, but they don't like you. If they liked you, they wouldn't make you overweight, diabetic, give you heart disease or shorten your lifespan. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and whole cuts of lean meats, fish etc. like you. They like youa lot.It really is in your best interests to learn to like them too, so you can live a longer, healthier and happier life.
