Whoopee! Am I gratified at the numbers visiting this blog. The last 3 days average was 552 per day. WOW! You can't imagine how wonderful this makes me feel I thank each one of you so much. You inspire me to keep on blogging information. I know right now I am stuck on the TTO topic, but soon other information will take over. The photo is showing John Goodman RRT setting out TTO catheter and supplies for me to use in a video made of how a patient takes care of the 'scoop' (catheter) and changes or just cleans it. I was thrilled to be asked to be the patient - no actress, I am for real . There are many of us in theDenverarea that are so greatful for this freedom from the nasal dryness and sore bloody noses, or sore ears-discomforts from the cannula. We all have volunteered to John that we will answer calls of questions from patient's who want the patient's perspective on tto. I love doing this, would like to have a group of TTO folks, to exchange help. None of us have any financial interest in this company, we just want to help others learn about TTO.
Responses to my TTO request of last weekend are starting to dribble in, I even heard from Dr. Thomas L. Petty. He is currently writing an article on TTO. When I consulted with him about my getting the procedure back in 2006 (Fast Tract TTO, a hose into the trachea) he responded that the person who knows the MOST is John Goodman. That is how I met John Goodman, and why I have Transtracheal oxygen. I love it. He too, would like the names of any one interested in the transtracheal procedure...doctors, respiratory therapists or patients, it is very hard finding/learning names of doctors who do this procedure, and to learn of patient's who have, or want one. The laws of confidentiality get in the way. All we can do is ask word of mouth. If you know of a doctor in your area, let me know about itbecause Dr. Petty wants to know too. Where to go for TTO.
Some suggestion ideas I received to find doctors:
1.Google each of the areas you're interested in with, for example, "pulmonalogists in Palo Alto"this finds a pulmonary doctor but not necessarily one who knows about TTO, but it is a start.http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pulmonary+doctors+zip+code+94040&bt
2. For CA: Have you contacted theStanfordHospital, medical center? Or the medical school at theUniversityofStanford? If not the El Camino Hospital I think it changed its name is a good source .there are tons of hospitals in that bay area Google YOUR area hospitals.
3. I moved toOregona couple of months ago and "heard" that there is only one Doctor inWashingtonStatewho does it. We need a real advertising campaign for the TTO!!! Maybe start advertising in the AARC magazine and Pulmonology magazines (the ones Doctors get not just the Digest. .
4.Recently there was a training session inFloridafor Drs/ENT's/RRT's about how to perform Fast tract, and to support TTO patient's I hope to get that name and address soon.
OK patient's hop on the band wagon and help us help ourselves!
