D. Q. is home from college for Christmas vacation. The sun shine's brighter, the volume of life is turned up to full blast and drama reigns once again in our home.
Scene One: Out on the driveway before we leave for her doctor's appointment
Me: Just a minute while I clear off the front seat.
DQ: Geez Mom why come your car is always such a mess?
Me holding up a dirty Tupperware container: Where did this come from?
DQ, slighty chagrined: Oh, that's mine...
Scene Two: We are sitting in the exam room waiting for her sweet dermatologist to show.
Once again, I am reading
People's Sexiest Man Alive issue. DQ asks me to hand her a chidren's book from the rack,
Puss in Boots. She is reading her book out loud while I'm trying to concentrate on the text of "sexiest neurologist". Just then, there is a slight knock on the door and daughter quickly tosses me Puss in Boots so that when the sweet dermatologist enters, it looks like I am reading the book instead. We all start laughing and the doctor says, "Catching up on your reading?"
It's good to have her back, I think...
