I Lost To The Beach!

Posted Oct 17 2008 6:18pm

Getting ready to go! And wearing her ID necklace that Michelle made.

I told her just before I took this picture that Mommy was getting angry because she wasn't listening and she said "Mommy angry" and put her hands on her hips.

About to enter airport security! "Bye mommy!" *I got a story about what happened just after I took this picture. See below to read about that story*

Bye kids!

So what was in her backpack to keep her busy?...
Ms. Elise is to thank for all of Gabi's things to keep her busy on the plane. She bought her a Froggy Rides A Bike book, made her a My Fun Trip book and a When I Am Angry book, 2 bags of matching cards games, and "A Quiet Family."

What is "A Quiet Family?"

Well... Ms. Elise got the idea from my dear friend Michelle's blog ( In The Life of a Child ) when Michelle made one for Jacqui as you can see here. The whole idea of "A Quiet Family" is that they play with them during times that you want them to be quiet. After all, everyone in "A Quiet Family" is quiet because they have no mouths!

Here are some pictures of Gabi's Quiet Family.

Now for my story... Just before Jeremy and Gabi were getting in line for the security checkpoint, I gave them hugs and kisses and told them each "bye, I'll miss you." It was at this point that Gabi realized that I wasn't going, too. You could see it in the change in her expression and then as she said, "No Mommy, you come." I am sure my face must have looked panic-stricken as I envisioned my daughter crying hysterically holding onto my pant leg just before she was pryed off and drug down the line toward the security checkpoint, but before I could see if my imagination would was right on, big brother Jeremy stepped in with the golden question, "Gabi, you want to go the beach?" "Sure!" she responded enthusiastically, "Bye, Mommy, I'm going to the beach!" She waved, and I looked on with a single tear in my eye, not knowing whether to be grateful that my daughter is so happy and my son is so clever or to be upset because I lost to the beach!
