From my friend Margaret: My son is VERY allergic to poison ivy:
We typically end up in the ER once a year with a pretty severe case. This year we only had a mild case, but we started using a product called "Tecnu" on him. Anytime we go for a hike, fishing or are off playing at the ball fields while big brother plays baseball we come home and scrub down with the Tecnu. As long as you use it with in 9 hours of contact it will help you keep the oils from penetrating.
