Rockin' out

Posted Aug 25 2008 3:36pm
So, as other parents of broods that involve a wider age range of kids can attest to, my fourth child is so much cooler that my first one was as a toddler.

First kids are usually dressed in the quintessential cute little boy duds. Things are matchy, matchy and the haircut is the "little gentleman" look. The music is Disney or Kindermusik selections, the toys are plastic and Fisher-Price.

Fast forward to the little guy who has three older siblings who are now firmly entrenched in the latest and coolest. Will's outfits are more down with the hood that so darn cute. Will's favorite artist is Lenny Kravitz and he'll rock out while playing his air 'tar. Will's toys are hockey sticks and pucks. If you cross Will he'll threaten you with a lifter. He tells his mom and siblings to lay off. He's 3 going on 13. I'm waiting for him to tell me he wants skater shoes and pick me up a Red Bull while your out. He's way more confident and assertive than any of his sibs were.

This has become a whole new adventure in parenting for more reasons than just the chromosome. Will is just so cool.

Today Will fancied wearing his rubber boots. No biggie. He was able to figure out that rubber boots are way more fun when the opportunity to submerge them in something viscous arises. He found the perfect opportunity with the dog's water bowl.
