The Metropolitan Opera - in a theater near you

Posted Sep 18 2009 10:03pm

For opera lovers - or anyone who's been curious about opera - there is a grea way to see the best opera in the country at affordable prices: the Metropolitan Opera Live HD series:

We have seen a few of these Saturday HD simulcasts - and would see them all if we didn't have other things going on in our lives.  It is a wonderful experience.

For more information - to see which operas, what dates, and where, visit

The Met: Live in HD

And if you're taking children or are seeing an opera you've never seen before, it's a good idea to read the synopsis in advance  - and maybe listen to the music so it is more familiar.

with no early exposure to opera, for me it was an acquired taste.  But Tripp and I raised our children with opera as part of the cultural mix and they love it and sing it themselves.  One plans on a career in it eventually (it takes a lot of study).

Please let me know if you have attended these - or if you plan to in the future - and how you like it.
