The last six miles

Posted Aug 24 2008 7:20pm
The last six miles of a marathon burn body fat, there is no more energy left in your muscles.

I heard this on the daytime show 'This Morning', with the London marathon on sunday you can't get away from training tips and nutrition advice. Running a marathon has been one of my recovery goals for awhile and right now there is no way I can get near that kind of distance, I'm lucky to manage an hour. That statement made me listen, you can't alter how your body works, no matter how hard you try to lose weight, change who you are, at the end of it, physically science has the facts and if you don't have that body fat, you can't run 26 miles.

Of course I realise there is a lot more to it but our bodies need energy and that comes from food, healthy balanced meals which should not be feared but somehow often are; learning to overcome that fear is vital if you want to cross the finish line.
