Be Kind To New Exercisers

Posted Nov 29 2008 12:26pm
The American Humane Association created Be Kind to Animals Week in 1915 to celebrate the unique bond between humans and animals.

Well I want to create a Be Kind to New Exercisers Month to be enstated in gyms across the world for January. This campaign is to promote bonding between exercise veterans and exercise newcomers.

Why you may ask?

I have witness year after year so much resentment and darn right hostility from exercise veterans towards the new year resolutioners and new exercisers. Admit it, you are annoyed that they are crowding your gym, taking too long on your treadmill, can't figure out your leg press, leaving towels all over your locker room and even drinking from your water fountain.

The truth of the matter is they see your looks and they hear you joking about them dropping out to the other gym members and staff. Newbies and resolutioners are already intimidated coming into an environment where it seems everyone is already fit and knows all the equipment, don't make them more uncomfortable.

Who knows if the real reason a person didn't come back to the gym was YOU.

Be kind to new exercisers, or else!
