Can You Get A Full Body Workout with Just Russian Kettlebells?

Posted Aug 26 2008 4:42pm
Everybody thinks they need to go to the gym or get some elaborate home system in order to get strong and lose weight . People believe that they will never hit their true potential unless they have all the machines in the world at their disposal. This is total BS though. Look at the old time strongmen such as Arthur Saxon or Eugene Sandow . These guys were stronger and better built than almost anyone alive today and this was before steroids, machines or even standardized barbells and dumbbells were invented!

The simple truth is, you don't need a lot of equipment to build a strong, lean and rugged physique that can perform on the field even better than it looks. All you need is creativity, mental toughness, and something to give you resistance. This is why I love Russian Kettlebells, they are literally a home gym in a can. Once you have a kettlebell and you learn how to use it, the gym doesn't seem so great, and that bowflex you see on TV looks like a really expensive clothes rack.

Some of the equipment I would recommend for a home gym are kettlebells, a chin-up bar, and an ab wheel. If you want to get crazy I would recommend blast straps , a foam roller and an adjustable fat handled dumbbell. Below is a great workout video from Undergroundstrengthcoach.com that shows you how to hit the entire body with just 4 exercises and two training implements. It does not get simpler or more effective than the workout below so take a look and give it a try yourself. If you don't have blast straps, substitute the pushing and plank drills for push-ups and inch-worms.
