Kettlebell training can and should be fun. I don't like to count the reps and sets of my kettlebell daily workouts because I prefer to play with my bells! Kettlebell juggling, or freestyle, is probably the most fun and expressive type of kettlebell training out there. When training freestyle, simple swing the kettlebell around in a variety of ways and try to juggle, throw, catch and balance the kettlebell in a variety of ways. Basically, play with the kettlebell and try to create exercises and drills as you go. Don't count reps, watch the clock, or worry about your heart rate, just play hard!
Kettlebell juggling is best done outside because you will be dropping that mass of weight on the ground and it will damage any kind of floor. Trust me, I put three holes in my dad's basement carpet one time and he was pissed! Take the kettlebells outside, that is where the sun, fresh air and women are right? Training outside will improve your mood in a flash and get a great sweat going too! Despite what people will have you believe, I have a sneaking suspicion that sunlight may actually be good for you too.
When kettlebell juggling, remember, there are no rules except, "fast feet are happy feet." Train barefooted if possible but be ready to move them quickly. Nothing will ruin a workout faster than a 53 lb kettlebell dropped on your foot. Have fun and be careful, but don't be surprised if you get the workout of your life when kettlebell juggling! Sometimes it is so fun and you are so focused that you won't realize how hard you are working until you drop the kettlebell and have to lie down!
