I wasn’t for sure if I was going to post about this or not and still not sure how much longer this blog will be here, but for now I decided that I would post about my latest workout at the gym. Mainly because this workout was going to give me some idea about how I might fare in my first 5K run on September 5th. Since none of my friends are able to be there physically I am bit nervous about even attempting this without someone there to root me on. That’s getting into another area that I need not dwell on.
So for some reason I got up at 1:30 Am and couldn’t get back to sleep so I decided to have a bit of breakfast and then head out to the gym at an attempt to run/jog my 5K. This time my run was on the track not the treadmill like I usually do. I figured that in order to get my 5K in I would have to go around the track 19 times; something that I really wasn’t looking forward to. It just sounded a bit boring to run around in circles like a hamster in a cage with nowhere to go. Plus since I also lost my Ipod shuffle I had no music to run to and it’s the music that helps me set a pace and move right along, especially if it’s upbeat. So the story continues and I’ll make this brief.

I started off at what I consider a small pace and I just kept at it as best as I could. I wasn’t about ready to give up that easily and as hard as it was to get through it, I did. As it turned out, I only walked 2 laps out of the 19 total I ran/jogged. This was a first for me so I was quite happy about that. What made it even a bit easier was that I basically had the track to myself since it was so early in the morning. Not that it would make a huge difference with others there.
So my trial time for the 5K was 34:22 minutes!
Yeah for me. I felt like I finally accomplished something worthwhile. I am not sure what the real 5 K race will be like but since it is a competition I have a feeling that I’ll be a bit more aggressive and motivated and hopefully have a better pace and final time. I guess we all will find out in about 2 weeks.
After the run I also finished up my workout with 50 minutes on the Elliptical trainer. I was tired at first but once I set a good pace up and was watching a bit of TV the time flew by and I was finished with that workout as well.

Now I am back at home preparing all my meals for the week ahead so that I am well prepared on all grounds.
Then later on this evening I am suppose to go to a Fitness seminar that Paul is putting on. It’s something new to me so I don’t truly know what to expect, but I am sure it will be another learning experience for me. I’ll be hopefully posting about that as well.
So until later have a great, healthy day everyone.
