You know when you are so stressed out the last thing you want to do it go to gym? Well today was one of the those days, but I forced myself to go because I took Monday off. Unfortunately for me, my instructor, Mike Miles from
Mike Miles Muay Thai was in a bit of a mood today and it was possibly the most brutal workout I have had at this club!
I was late to the gym so I could not lift weights as I had planned, good thing because it would have been too much. Below is the workout we were put through:
6:00-6:45
Jogging around the club, 10 pushups, 5 monkey jumps, jog, 9 pushups, 6 monkey, jog, repeat sequence until we were at 5 pushups and 10 monkey jumps.
Then jogging, sprint, jog, sprint, repeat for about 15 intervals ranging from 2 minutes to 30 seconds. This part was crazy!
Sprint, then ball kicks, sprint, then knees, sprint, shadow box, repeat sequence. Dear God!
Pick up a skipping rope, skip, sprint, skip sprint, etc.
Lie down, abdominal routine for 10 minutes. I often spasm during the ab sequences.
6:45-7:25
Grear up and do boxing drills (attacking, defending) non-stop
7:25-7:30
Sparring, switching partners every minute
The boxing drills were easy, but the "warmup" was unreal! All that sprinting just about killed me. Many a classmate was taking an extra water break during it. I love sprints for conditioning. For more sprinting training information check out an
