Today was a killer workout! I hit the gym at 5:30 and didn't leave finish training until 7:30. I don't recommend this amount of volume, even myself, but hey, sometimes you have to push yourself right? For a great video Thai Boxing video check out the
Ramon Dekkers Iron Life video !
As soon as I arrived I attacked the weights and banged out some front squats. I start my front squats with the weight on the ground. I clean the barbell to my shoulders, then rep out the squats. It is more difficult than starting from the racks but you can't use as much weight. After a snappy weight session that only lasts 30 minutes I loosened up and hit the Thai Boxing floor beside the weight room.
In today's Thai Boxing class we began with a brutal 20 minute workout that consisted of calisthenics, conditioning drills and shadow boxing. For a better description see on of my
earlier posts . During these warm-ups I often have to separate myself from body, I tell myself things like "I am a machine, I cannot be broken," to keep myself going. The brain always wants to quit long before the body will.
Once we were "warmed-up" We did some Thai Boxing drills such as kicking and countering attacking each other. Then we sparred for about 10 minutes which was pretty tiring.
After the sparring we hit the Thai Pads for more kicking drills, then ended it with a solid ab workout. I tell you, I must burn more calories in one training session than most people do all day!
A lot of my posts talk about losing weight and getting into better shape. If you are trying to gain mass, then check out
