Stretch It Out

Stretching is the overlooked middle child of workout routines - it's usually rushed or forsaken altogether for the sake of cardio, weights, or virtually anything else. Skipping the limbering-up portion of your gym time is a bad idea, however, because a thorough stretching session can help to prevent injuries and muscle soreness later. I know that I'm just as guilty as anyone when it comes to forgetting to warm up, but I'm trying to remember that the warm-ups and cool-downs are just essential as everything else. Take a look at this article from REI (http://www.rei.com/online/store/LearnShareDetailArticlesList?categoryId=Crosstrain&url=rei/learn/crosstrain/clstretchf.jsp)? it's about stretching as a precursor to outdoor activities, but their tips are applicable to pretty much everything.
