Grapefruit

Posted by Teresa J.

My son, I discovered this morning, likes rich red grapefruit. He wanted a snack so I asked him if he wanted to share a snack with me on the couch. Who knew that he would like it so much? He must take after me, because I like sour fruits as well. I'm not much of a fruit eater but lemons, green apples, and now grapefruit are my thing. I still love my sweets, like pineapple, but fruit should make itself known to the mouth!

What benefits are there to taking a chance and seeing if your child likes grapefruit? There's fiber in there (most found by peeling it like an orange or digging away at the walls with a spoon), and not only that but Florida grapefruit is good for the heart and full of Vitamin C.

So, sit down with your child and share a grapefruit! You won't regret it. They might not like it but if they do, it'll likely start a lifetime of good habits.

I love that you joined your son on the couch to share the grapefruit. I think that's probably a huge part of the reason he liked it. At that age, it's cool to like what mom likes :)
I bought grapefruits this week and they were so sweet. Usually I cut them in half and remove the pulp, but this batch we have peeled and eatten like oranges. The kids love em.
