High Altitude Gardening

Posted Oct 01 2008 8:27pm
High in the Wasatch Mountains, gardening is a bit of a challenge. Perhaps that's why it's so rewarding. It's May Day and the sun is shining, though I am bundled up in a sweater, waiting for the last of the snow to melt and my daffodils to begin to bloom.

Truth be told I liked this house for one reason and one reason only: a sunny bay window that let's me grow a flower garden in the midst of ski season. I may spend my days on the slopes but my evenings are spent enjoying the fragrant scent of Hawaiian Plumeria. You can survive long winters, too, with or without a sunny window. Pick up these happy bloomers at your local supermarket. Enjoy flowers all winter long with the help of an inexpensive grow light.
