VegPlottin g commented the other day when we met up that I rarely post about anything other than gardening so I thought I would share with you what I have been up to this weekend. Our local college runs an Art Summer School and I have been on a two day course called Raising the Surface which was all about textiles and creating 3D effects.
I haven’t done anything like this at all so my learning curve was very steep. Our project was to make a mirrow frame. My effort is above although far from finished but I learnt lots of new techniques including foiling, free machine embrodiery, beading and printing.
Whilst my effort was far from the best I am really pleased with it. I have treated it as more of a sampler to try out all the different techniques on. Some of the others were simply stunning and you could easily tell those that had been to these sorts of courses before.
I will definately finish off the mirror frame and I think I will think about doing some more of these courses in the future it has been a fastinating experience.
