Amino Acids - The Building Blocks of Life

Posted Sep 14 2008 6:12pm

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported on a study done in Sweden showing that amino acid levels measured in blood plasma were low in patients with chronic kidney disease. This was due to increased inflammation and malnutrition associated with the disease.

This comes as no surprise to me. Many chronic conditions lead to low levels of amino acids as the body tends to require higher levels of amino acids to fight infection, repair damaged tissues and build the substances it needs to try to keep us healthy. Amino Acids are the basic building block of all life!

Often our digestive systems are compromised by the chronic condition(s). Poor digestion leads to lower levels of amino acids making it difficult for our body to get what it needs to heal. This is why many diseases like cancer and AIDS cause what is called "muscle wasting," or loss of muscle mass. The body is desperately trying to get the amino acids it needs by essentially breaking down muscle.

Amino Acid from Jigsaw Health Supplementation with amino acids can literally be a lifesaver in these conditions. Amino acid supplementation can also be a huge boon in trying to recover from most chronic conditions such as Candida, Adrenal Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue, etc.

Jigsaw Health's Essential Blend Amino Acid is based on the profile of an egg and contains nearly a gram of glutamine peptides, the most easily absorbed form of glutamine.

KTS also sells a really good amino acid complex called My Aminoplex. I like this product a lot, but I don't like the sucralose in it, no matter how many times Mark and Hillary try to convince me it's not that bad. (Of course, I think my stubbornness may have worn them down since I hear they are working on a new formula, sans sucralose. Or maybe it was because Coke and Pepsi are using it.)

Amino acid supplementation has been a one of the big puzzle pieces for me to recover from my own struggles with numerous chronic conditions. I also consider Betaine HCL and Digestive Enzymes a requirement for most people fighting a chronic condition. Getting digestion working optimally can be a major key to getting well. It has been for me!
