i have had an in-grown hair csyt in my armpit for over a week. - Surgery required?

The cyst was dormant for quite number of months (it was small in size, present, but not painful to touch, and I was waxing normally) - and suddenly grew in size a little under 2 weeks ago. it is about 2 inches wide and 3 inches long - quite painful.
it will cost approximately $600.00 for me to have it cut open surgically and drained.
Insurance is not going to cover it. If it is ok for me to just wait till it bursts - then i will go ahead and do so.
I was prescribed antibiotics already in my visit.
Will it make a difference if it bursts naturally (assuming that infection will not set in) as opposed to cutting it open?
I want to know if it is worth having it drained by a surgen...I heard that even if they target the root, it could still come back again anyways...
