Is A Successful Diet All In The Mind?

Posted Nov 21 08 4:33pm

Over the last 10 years we have seen every single type of diet which you could ever imagine from the Lemonade diet to the GI diet to the Low Carb diet and on. While the evidence for each and every diet on the market can be compelling, how do some diets work for one person but not for others? Is there another secret to the art of a successful diet?

It will come as no surprise to learn that the vast majority of people who go on a diet will put the weight back on shortly after finishing their new regime. This has caused many people to investigate the suggestion that a successful diet is all in the mind, which then prompts the question, can any diet work where there is a dedication to follow it through?

While the power of the mind is underestimated by many people, let us not forget that all of our bodies are different, our metabolisms vary and we all lead total different lifestyles. Therefore a diet which works from someone who is active and healthy, but over weight, may not work for someone who never gets any exercise. That said the power of the mind in these situations is immense with more and more people actually turning to hypnosis in order to ensure they can lose weight and become healthier. We have even seen the emergence of well know faces such as Paul McKenna who has shown a great skill in persuading people that they can diet and lose weight.

When you strip out all of the promotional material, investigations and the like, there are two simple factors to a good diet, reduced food intake and more exercise. If you can arrive at a balance of the above two elements then you are well on the way to losing a few pounds!
