Is it possible to break a bone on the top of your foot?

I dropped a table on my foot at work and i went to the doc a week ago now and she touched it for, honestly all of a second, (she was running an hour behind and I had asked her about something else first) and she said it was a bruise. It has been 4 and a half weeks now since it happened and there is a little lump on the top of my foot that is making it hard to put shoes on! I went to the store to try shoes on and it hurt too much! It is fine to walk on, i don't have any pain but when i sit with my legs crossed or wear shoes or bump it, it really hurts!
Even if it is a break I don't even know if there is anything that can be done due to the location of the pain? It is noticeably a lumpy part. What should I do?
