Western Carolina University has begun to offer on-line classes in wilderness medicine. These classes are part of a degree track for those working on a Bachelor’s degree in pre-hospital medicine.
There are several different modules that offer some very interesting areas of study, all geared to distance/web-based learning. There is a practicum at the end of study for hands on skills.
This will, hopefully, make it a bit easier for those looking to learn more about wilderness medicine and still keep their “day jobs”.
