You've Lost That Bloated Feeling

Posted Nov 17 2008 9:10pm

While trying to figure out the best way to consume more total calories, I have just been trying to eat more in the meantime, period.  My initial ways of doing this didn't work so well.  In general, this last week I've felt more like 70s Elvis than 50s Elvis, a bit bloated (even though my weight has been the same).

On Sunday, I tried a hunka, hunka piece of meat after my workout to get in more protein and fat.  Overall, it didn't seem to do the trick.  It felt like my body was sluggish for hours trying to digest everything.  Last night, I just cut to the chase and had a high-fat meal after the workout - basically, it was eggs, a bit of meat, and lots of oil.  It felt good, and the good feelings rolled into this morning.

Fat just appears to be a superior way to get in more calories.  There's less volume of food involved, which makes it easier from a digestive standpoint.  It also matches up pretty well with our hunter-gatherer past.  So I will continue on with this high-fat eating pattern.
